TRAVEL AWARD SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Thanks to the generosity of our funders, we’re able to support global advocates in attending AVA Summit events. Our Travel Award Scholarships are designed to make these transformative gatherings accessible to individuals from all corners of the world. We strive to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in at least one of our events each year, empowering advocates to connect, learn, and create lasting change for animals.

TRAVEL AWARD DETAILS

Travel Awards are offered at two levels:

  • $1,000 USD

  • $1,600 USD

Please select the award nearest to your need when applying. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to submit yours as soon as possible.

HOW WE SCORE & SELECT APPLICATIONS

Before each event, we receive around 300 applications from advocates worldwide seeking financial support. We aim to bring as many people as possible while offering reasonable awards.

In 2024, Travel Awards will be available at two levels: Regular ($1,000) and Large ($1,600). However, with limited funding, we can only allocate about $130,000 per event (100 awards), meaning over 65% of applicants will be rejected.

We prioritize high-impact applicants:

  • who were accepted last year but couldn't attend due to visa issues

  • who are members from the BIPOC community

  • who are working for an organization with a budget under $500k (or lower, depending on the region of the Summit)

  • whose personal income is under $50k (or lower, depending on the region of the Summit)

  • who are the sole representative from an organization

  • who are the sole representative from a country

  • who are speaking at the Summit

Applicants have low chances to receive a Travel Award if they:

  • work for a large and/or well-funded organization

Please keep in mind that we receive a lot more applications than we can accept, due to limited funding.
